White Flowers






The elegant white flowers of the world are – nocturnal flowers (name pls) open their blooms for nighttime pollinators, like moths and (what else). Their white color is bright enough for pollinators to find at night. By adapting to the environment – insects and critters around them – to evolve to open their booms at night instead of during the day. To ask the question, which came first, the night pollinators or the white night-opening flowers (find the name for it) is attune to asking, which came first, the chicken or the egg.

Carnations have been cultivated for at least 2,000 years, and while their specific origins are unknown, they are widely presumed to have been native of the Mediterranean region. Unbeknownst to many, carnations are actually a reasonably easy to grow perennial that can survive fairly cold winters and even moderate droughts.

These majestic little flowers are some of the first flowers you will see in the Spring. Named after the illustrious Joan of Arc, they are native to the Alpines of Europe and therefore grow well in colder, higher altitudes like the Rocky Mountains. They are easy to grow and require little maintenance or water. The white-colored crocuses are only one of many available colors and varieties.
